Balto. Co. Council OKs Funds for Cooler Schools
The Baltimore County Council approved $17.2 million Monday to air-condition schools in Middle River, Parkville, Pikesville, Windsor Mill and Woodlawn. County Executive Kevin Kamenetz requested the funding for Featherbed Lane, Hawthorne, Scotts Branch and Wellwood International elementary schools; and Parkville Middle School. In August, the state Board of Public Works approved $11.7 million in state funding to go toward the projects for those schools. The county funding was generated through a 2012 bond sale. School officials expect to start installing the air conditioning this spring.
